Erosion Playtest Extended After Tens of Thousands Sign Up

The Erosion playtest has been extended to Friday July 3rd, after drawing tens of thousands of players in its first week. The developers had originally planned to shut down access after seven days, but the volume of interest prompted them to keep the servers live longer.

The extension acknowledges that not everyone interested has had a chance to play yet. The team behind the time-warping roguelike openly acknowledged that optimization remains incomplete for certain devices, meaning some players can’t access the test at all. By extending the window, the developers are buying more time to collect feedback from a broader range of hardware configurations.

Erosion tasks you with rescuing your kidnapped daughter from a warlord inside a reality-warping structure called the Pillar. Each death ages the world by a decade, transforming factions, NPCs, and entire regions. The game pairs this timeline mechanic with destructible voxel dungeons, a sprawling wasteland overworld, and 100+ weapons and abilities to experiment with. You can join a cult, steal vehicles, gamble at the Al Cashino, hunt bounties, and command armies of cats, all while your choices reshape the future across multiple timelines.

The extended playtest window gives the developers room to address performance issues before the full release while letting more roguelike fans experience the core loop. If you haven’t jumped in yet, the clock is now ticking toward Friday instead of today. Head to the Erosion Steam store page to download and join before time runs out.
