Three years later, the Stagecoach is still rolling. Red Hook Studios is celebrating Darkest Dungeon II’s third anniversary with a mix of new merchandise and a major gameplay update, giving players both something to wear and something new to conquer.
The merchandise side of the celebration brings fresh Jester and Plague Doctor apparel through The Yetee, expanding the collection of Darkest Dungeon gear available to fans. The bigger news, however, comes from the game’s newly expanded Kingdoms mode.
Previously introduced as an alternative way to play, Kingdoms is now available as a complete standalone campaign experience running alongside the original Confessions mode. Rather than focusing solely on a single expedition, Kingdoms asks players to defend a collapsing realm from multiple invading factions while managing a roster of heroes across a larger strategic campaign.
And there’s plenty to tackle from day one.
All three Kingdoms adventure modules are now available, including Hunger of the Beast Clan, Secrets of the Coven, and Curse of the Court. Each campaign tracks its own progress independently, allowing players to jump between different adventures without losing momentum.
While Darkest Dungeon II’s signature turn-based combat remains at the heart of the experience, Kingdoms adds a broader strategic element built around resource management, long-term planning, and tracking down the source of the spreading corruption threatening the realm.
The update also continues to build upon the systems players already know. Hero relationships can strengthen or fracture throughout a journey, new skills and items can be unlocked, and the Altar of Hope continues to provide progression between runs. Whether an expedition ends in triumph or disaster, there’s always something carried forward into the next attempt.
Three years after launch, Darkest Dungeon II remains one of the most distinctive roguelites on the market, and Kingdoms gives returning players a compelling new reason to climb back aboard the Stagecoach.
