In a bid to offer something a little different, DarkBazaar is swapping heroic quests for dark web weapons deals, risky decisions, and the constant pressure of keeping an underground operation alive.
The demo is now available on Steam, and your cards represent deals, negotiations, and shady transactions. The stakes feel more personal than abstract, because you’re not just trying to win a run. You’re trying to keep the whole operation from collapsing around you.
Deckbuilding roguelites have stuck around for a reason. Slay the Spire helped define the template, and since then we’ve seen developers spin the formula in every direction, from pirates and space traders to chefs and librarians. A dark web weapons dealer is definitely one of the more eyebrow-raising takes, but at least it knows exactly what kind of fantasy it’s selling.
Of course, whether DarkBazaar fully delivers on the concept remains to be seen. Demos can be deceiving, but the mix of deckbuilding, criminal strategy, and constant financial pressure gives it a strong hook.
