Caves of Qud Patch 211.50 Fixes Cybernetic, Solar, and Save State Bugs

Caves of Qud recently received a maintenance patch addressing a handful of mechanical and save state issues that were causing friction in the Hugo Award-winning roguelike. The update, version 211.50, corrected problems ranging from cybernetic implant persistence to solar cell functionality, according to the patch notes posted to Steam.

Among the fixes, autoexplore behavior received refinement. The system will now dig only to reach revealed objects of interest, and it seems less likely to discard its last target if interrupted mid-operation. The patch also corrected a bug that caused cybernetic fist weapons to remain implanted on your hands after being unimplanted, likely a source of frustration for players swapping gear.

A separate issue that swapped the required skills to highlight garbage and harvestables has been resolved. Solar cells, which power much of the game’s tech-forward survival toolkit, now recharge as intended.

The developers tackled a more serious save state problem. The saves were loading with a stale zone cache, a condition that could silently corrupt your progress through the game’s layered thousand-year civilizations.

If you’re exploring Caves of Qud and have experienced odd zone behavior or save loading oddities, this patch likely resolves what you were seeing.
