Half a century ago, General Maelgerok murdered the king and seized the throne, and the kingdom has been drowning in chaos ever since. No allies are coming to help. Every fight from here on out is a duel, and losing one means losing everything.

Age of Legacy is an unforgiving roguelike RPG from developer Chaotic Order Games, built entirely around intense, turn-based 1v1 combat. Choosing between the Mage, Warrior, and Archer, you’ll hunt down rare equipment, master class-specific abilities, and slot powerful runestones into your build, all while knowing that a single death sends everything back to the void.

What Makes It Different?

  • Fight intense, turn-based 1v1 duels with no allies or party members
  • Choose between three distinct classes: Mage, Warrior, and Archer
  • Hunt rare equipment from enemies and specialized vendors
  • Master unique ability pools and synergies for each class
  • Discover game-changing runestones that grant powerful passive perks
  • Face permadeath, where death wipes out all equipment, runestones, and resources
  • Explore a kingdom consumed by chaos under a usurper’s brutal rule

Every Turn Is a Duel

Without a party to lean on, Age of Legacy puts full weight on outmaneuvering a single opponent at a time. Every turn counts in these high-stakes standoffs, and each class fundamentally alters how that duel gets approached, changing not just abilities and runestones but the resource type driving them. Choosing Mage, Warrior, or Archer isn’t just a cosmetic decision, it’s the foundation an entire build gets constructed around.

Nothing Carries Over When You Fall

Permadeath here isn’t a soft reset. Dying sends a character to the void along with every piece of equipment, runestone, and resource gathered along the way, leaving no second chances and no safety net. That weight makes every decision, from which runestone combination to experiment with to which fight is worth risking, feel genuinely consequential.

How Long Does a Run Take?

The playable demo offers an average run time of roughly 30 to 45 minutes for a standard playthrough. As the full game is a 1v1 turn-based roguelike RPG, this time can vary depending on strategy and the class selected. A complete run showcasing the core features of all three classes can easily extend up to 1 to 2 hours.

Good If You Like…

If you enjoyed Path of Achra, Cardinal Quest 2, or Tales of Maj’Eyal, Age of Legacy’s build-focused, turn-based combat and unforgiving permadeath should scratch a similar itch. It’s not out until 2027, but the playable demo already available on Steam gives a solid look at what’s coming.
