HoverShot Launches on Steam With a Mechanic That Turns Shooting Into Movement

A developer working on HoverShot, a zero-gravity action roguelite, has now launched the game’s Steam page after an extended development cycle. The premise is unusual, making shooting the only way you can move.

Every shot propels you in the opposite direction, so combat and navigation collapse into the same system. Each weapon you find alters how you move through the ship, which quite possibly means weapon choice carries weight beyond pure damage output.

The narrative is you play as a maintenance robot aboard a research spaceship that has been attacked by hostile aliens. The crew has been transformed into space zombies, and the corridors now swarm with strange creatures. To protect the ship’s most valuable cargo (a fish in the laboratory), the robot replaces its own head with the aquarium itself. From there, survival becomes the mission.

You’ll navigate randomly generated levels, collect upgrades that grant new abilities and movement options, battle enemies and undead crew members, and face boss encounters blocking your escape.

There is no launch date announced just yet, but you can keep up to date on the Steam page, as well as find the game on itch.io to learn more or follow development.
