You Are What You Eat in Upcoming Twin-Stick Shooter, Plume

Everything you eat in Plume changes the way you fight. That’s the central idea behind the upcoming twin-stick shooter from solo developer syle-makes-games, where every crop, seed, and elemental ingredient becomes another opportunity to reshape your build on the climb towards the volcano’s summit.

Developed by syle-makes-games, Plume follows the last surviving egg of a flightless bird tribe after a devastating volcanic eruption. Your goal is to climb back towards the summit, gathering elemental seeds, crops, and ancient artifacts along the way. The catch is that none of those resources simply sit in your inventory. Consume them, and they directly influence your combat abilities, allowing you to create wildly different builds from one run to the next.

A fiery crop may add burning attacks to your arsenal, while another ingredient could freeze enemies in place or fill the screen with crackling electricity. You’ll also be able to plant seeds during a run, creating new opportunities to shape your build as you explore. Rather than chasing the same upgrades every time, Plume encourages players to experiment with different combinations and discover what works best for their own playstyle.

It’s a clever idea that feels like a natural fit for the genre. Roguelikes have always been at their best when every run asks players to adapt, and Plume’s diet-based progression looks set to make every decision, including lunchtime, an important one.

The game is currently in development for PC with a release planned on Steam. If the idea of building your next run one bite at a time sounds appealing, you can wishlist it or join the developer’s Discord channel now to follow its progress.
