Slime Picnic Games Announces A Roguelike Tower Defense for Q4 2026

Slime Picnic Games is bringing a fresh fusion of tower defense and roguelike deckbuilding to Steam, combining two genres that rarely intersect. A Roguelike Tower Defense tasks players with constructing unique defenses across procedurally shaped runs, where hero selection and tower discovery drive strategic depth across multiple playthroughs.

The core loop revolves around upgrade card synergy. Each of the game’s 40+ towers can be customized with up to 5 upgrade slots, where smaller cards occupy single slots while larger ones demand 2 or 3 slots in exchange for bigger stat bonuses. After every level, players choose rewards that reshape their run: new hero skills, additional towers, or cards to add to their upgrade deck. Eight heroes anchor the roster, each with distinct abilities and playstyles that compound with tower choices and card configurations.

The design philosophy emphasizes emergent possibility. With over 40 unique tower mechanics, 8 heroes, and a deck-building layer built into tower customization itself, the developer frames the game as offering endless strategic combinations. Campaign progression spans multiple worlds featuring unique enemies, bosses, and map mechanics, while an endless mode generates layouts procedurally for indefinite scaling.

A Roguelike Tower Defense launches in Q4 2026, with a demo available now on the Steam store page. Wishlists are open for players ready to explore whether tower defense strategy and roguelike replayability can genuinely coexist.
