Soon, however, players will be able to share those experiences with someone else thanks to a fan made addition based on the open source version of Shattered Pixel Dungeon.
The popular traditional roguelike is officially getting a co-op mode, marking one of the biggest additions in the game’s history.
Shattered Pixel Dungeon has built a loyal following through its blend of procedural dungeon generation, challenging turn-based combat, and an enormous variety of items, enemies, and character builds. Players can choose from six heroes, each offering a distinct approach to survival. Whether you prefer the Warrior’s durability, the Mage’s destructive spells, or the Rogue’s tactical tricks, every run encourages experimentation and adaptation.
Part of the game’s enduring appeal comes from its constant evolution. New content arrives regularly, introducing additional talents, subclasses, abilities, and mechanics that keep veteran players coming back for another run.
Co-op represents an entirely new direction for the game. While details remain limited, the addition will allow players to tackle Shattered Pixel Dungeon’s dangerous dungeons together rather than facing them alone.

If executed thoughtfully, co-op could expand Shattered Pixel Dungeon‘s audience beyond solo grinders. If not, it risks muddying the design that’s kept players returning since launch.
