Even the Perfect Hand Won’t Save You In Runeveil

Runeveil’s four elemental wizards all have access to powerful runes, devastating spells, and game-breaking combinations. The trick is making sure they go off in the right order.

Now available in early access on Steam, the roguelite deckbuilder revolves around sequence-based combat, where the order you play your runes can be just as important as the runes themselves. Powerful combinations aren’t simply discovered, they’re assembled step by step, with timing and placement determining whether a build explodes into life or fizzles out before it gets started.

Players choose from four elemental wizards including Nature, Fire, Water, and Arcane, before venturing through procedurally generated trials in pursuit of the Sin Kings. Along the way they’ll collect runes, artifacts, potions, and enchantments that dramatically alter how abilities interact.

The early access version already offers plenty to experiment with, including 200 runes, 100 artifacts, 50 potions and scrolls, and dozens of enemies spread across multiple ascension levels.

What makes Runeveil particularly interesting is how heavily it leans into synergy. Artifacts don’t simply increase numbers, they reshape interactions, create chain reactions, and open the door to increasingly absurd combinations capable of turning a struggling run into a spectacular one.

For players who enjoy carefully constructing an elaborate plan before unleashing complete chaos, Runeveil appears more than happy to reward the effort.
