Pentabit Copy-X is a puzzle roguelike inspired by a fantasy most modern games rarely explore. It’s trying to keep an aging computer alive while everything around it slowly breaks.
Developed by Ukko Games, the upcoming title takes visual inspiration from the Commodore Amiga era and builds an entire roguelite around protecting valuable data from corruption. Players place pentomino-style pieces across a hex editor interface while dealing with glitches, interrupt requests, and other digital problems that threaten to bring the system down.
Each run spans 12 tracks leading toward a final event, with permanent hardware upgrades helping players push further on future attempts. Along the way, perks and items provide new ways to strengthen a run, while endless and benchmark modes offer additional challenges for players looking to master the game’s systems.
What makes Pentabit Copy-X particularly distinctive is how closely its mechanics and theme work together. The retro visuals aren’t simply there for nostalgia. Everything from the interface design to the puzzle mechanics revolves around the idea of managing and protecting a vintage computer system under constant pressure.
That commitment extends to the soundtrack as well. Composer Chris Huelsbeck, whose work helped define the Amiga era for many players, is providing the music, giving the project another connection to the period that inspired it.
A demo is already available on Steam for players curious about its unusual blend of puzzle-solving, data preservation, and roguelite progression ahead of its planned Q3 2026 release
