Can A Dice Roguelite Make Luck Feel Irrelevant?

The biggest decision in a roguelike isn’t always what you get. Sometimes it’s what you do with it. Dice Tavern: Farkle Roguelike doubles down on that insight, turning the classic push-your-luck dice game Farkle into a strategic roguelite where timing and restraint matter more than favorable RNG.

The core loop is deceptively simple. You roll dice to score points, then face a recurring choice. Either bank your earnings or risk everything for a larger payout. Bust, and you lose the entire round. That tension between greed and survival becomes the game’s beating heart, and the roguelite elements amplify it.

Ten playable characters each reshape how you approach risk, from high-volatility builds that thrive on comebacks to careful planners who grind steady gains. Across 23 unique dice and 17 synergy sets, you’ll build scoring engines by combining abilities and triggering chain reactions. The more you unlock, the more control you gain over probability itself.

The developer is advertising the game as a deliberate answer to roguelikes where luck overwhelms choice. Here, dice gain abilities, upgrades reshape odds, and each run forces calculated wagers rather than surrenders to chance. Travel through six taverns and face thirty opponents with rule-breaking modifiers, from sealing your strongest numbers to weaponizing your busts. Randomized routes and ever-shifting shops ensure no two journeys repeat.

A fresh demo arrived during Steam Next Fest, alongside a new leaderboard for players ready to prove their risk management chops. The game releases in full soon.
