Space is enormous. Unfortunately, so is the number of things trying to kill you in it. One minute you’re piloting a heavily armed combat ship through a hostile sector. The next, hundreds of enemy vessels are closing in, projectiles are filling the screen, and something significantly larger has appeared on the horizon.
Whatever the mission briefing said, we’re fairly certain it didn’t mention this many enemies. Welcome to PHILSEQUE DIVISION, a 3D space action roguelite from developer PHILSEQUE that’s bringing its free demo to October’s Steam Next Fest. Combining bullet-heaven combat with ship customization, escalating enemy hordes, and enormous boss battles, it’s an opportunity to discover just how much punishment one little spacecraft can dish out.
Spoiler: potentially quite a lot.
Your Ship, Your Weapons, Your Problem
Every operation begins with a simple decision…Which combat ship are you taking into battle?
Different vessels have their own characteristics, with mobility, durability, and firepower influencing how you’ll approach the enemy. A nimble ship may be better suited to weaving between incoming projectiles, while a tougher vessel could give you more room to survive when the battlefield becomes crowded.
Once you’ve chosen your ship, it’s time to enter hostile space and start destroying things. Enemies drop experience, allowing you to install new modules and upgrade your existing systems during the mission. You’ll combine offensive abilities with passive improvements, gradually transforming your starting vessel into something capable of handling increasingly ridiculous numbers of enemies.
The trick is choosing upgrades that complement one another rather than grabbing whatever looks impressive. Although when a screen full of enemy ships is heading directly toward you, an extra weapon probably won’t hurt.
Space Traffic Has Officially Gotten Out of Hand

The longer you survive, the more crowded things become. Enemy formations grow larger, drones and war machines join the fight, and incoming projectiles begin occupying an alarming percentage of your available flying space. Keeping your ship moving is essential, especially when you’re surrounded by threats approaching from multiple directions.
The game also takes you through different regions of space, each with its own hazards, atmosphere, and enemies. You’ll navigate debris fields, energy storms, dangerous nebulae, and the remains of enormous fleets, all while trying to avoid becoming another piece of floating wreckage. Mysterious structures and unfamiliar threats add further variety to your missions.
Then, just when you think you’ve got the situation under control, the bosses arrive.
Bigger Ships, Bigger Problems

Surviving ordinary enemies is only part of the challenge. Each operation also throws minibosses and powerful bosses into the battle, testing whether your carefully assembled loadout can handle something considerably more intimidating than another wave of drones. You’ll need to adapt your strategy, dodge incoming attacks, and make the most of whatever weapons and modules you’ve collected.
The developer has also been updating the demo ahead of the festival. September’s version 1.0.3 introduced the Drift Cargo operation, improvements to combat, customizable camera controls, and weapon rebalancing.
That means anyone who tried an earlier build has a few reasons to climb back into the cockpit.
Your Mission Starts Here
PHILSEQUE DIVISION has a free demo available now during October’s Steam Next Fest, which runs from October 19-26, 2026. The full game is currently targeting a Q4 2026 release, with multiple combat ships, upgrade combinations, hostile regions, and increasingly demanding encounters forming the core experience.
If you enjoy survivors-like games but fancy trading your usual battlefield for the depths of space, this could be worth taking for a spin. Just make sure you’ve installed enough weapons before heading out.
