The empire has hurt too many for too long, and the resistance just stole its crown jewel to do something about it. Piloting the StarStorm, an experimental fighter ship with limitless power, taking the fight to the empire’s own defenses is finally within reach.

Astral Blitz is a roguelite twin-stick shooter from developer Spirit Forged Studios. Wreaking devastation through hordes of empire defenses, customizing a ship built for brutal destruction, refined precision, or pure chaos, you’ll strike down enemies with an arsenal of phasers, lasers, and rail guns, unlocking new ships and systems to reinvest into the fight for freedom.

What Makes It Different?

  • Pilot the StarStorm, an experimental fighter ship with limitless customization
  • Wield an arsenal of phasers, laser beams, rail guns, missiles, and ultimates
  • Shape a playstyle built around brutal destruction, precision, or total chaos
  • Unlock new ships, enhancements, weaponry, and systems to reinvest into the cause
  • Face randomized events and dynamic weather changes on every run
  • Encounter new enemies and bosses that keep each attempt feeling fresh
  • Take on a huge range of upgrade combinations across countless builds

An Arsenal Built for Rebellion

Fighting the empire’s defenses in Astral Blitz comes down to how a ship gets built. Combining phasers, laser beams, rail guns, missiles, and ultimates opens up wildly different approaches, whether that’s leaning into raw destructive power, dialing in refined precision, or embracing total chaos. Complete control over the StarStorm’s loadout means no two pilots need to fight the empire the same way.

No Sky Looks the Same Twice

Every run through Astral Blitz mixes things up with randomized events, dynamic weather changes, and fresh combinations of enemies and bosses. Starting each attempt with a new ship and build keeps that variety front and center, and unlocking enhancements, weaponry, and systems along the way gives the resistance a little more firepower to work with heading into the next fight.

How Long Does a Run Take?

An individual gameplay run typically lasts between 15 to 40 minutes. As a roguelite, the total time of a single run depends entirely on playstyle, chosen difficulty, and how quickly enemy waves get cleared and ship upgrades collected. Fast-paced runs of 15 to 25 minutes are common on lower difficulties or when focusing heavily on speed and dodging without hunting for every optional upgrade, while methodical runs stretch to 30 to 40 minutes when resources are collected carefully, ship builds are meticulously crafted, and every enemy stronghold on a map gets cleared. Run time can also jump depending on how long it takes to defeat the more challenging elite defensive bosses waiting at the end of levels.

Controller Support

Astral Blitz features Full Controller Support for Xbox Controllers. The developers recommend playing this game with a controller.

Good If You Like…

If you enjoyed Enter the Gungeon, Starforged Legacy, or Ogre Chambers 2222, Astral Blitz’s mix of twin-stick shooting and roguelite ship customization should be well worth a look.
