Architect of War Launches Into Early Access, Turning Adaptation Into Your Greatest Weapon

Tower defense games usually reward careful planning. Architect of War wants you to keep planning long after the first wave begins. The strategic roguelite from solo developer Six Sided Studio has launched into Early Access on Steam today, combining classic lane defense with a progression system where every upgrade comes at a cost.

Rather than simply building the biggest collection of towers you can, Architect of War constantly forces you to adapt. Every relic you pick up makes your defenses stronger, but also increases the difficulty of the run, creating a balancing act where every reward has the potential to make your next decision even more difficult. It’s a simple idea that gives each run a very different feel, encouraging experimentation instead of relying on the same strategy every time.

The Early Access version already arrives with a substantial amount of content, including 16 maps across two worlds, 24 upgradeable turrets, more than 70 enemy types, 116 relics, 64 items, 10 powers, three difficulty levels for every map, and dynamically generated weekly challenges. According to the developer, the focus during Early Access will be balancing the game’s many interconnected systems before expanding it further with additional maps, enemies, turrets, relics, and game modes over the next six to twelve months.

If you enjoy tower defense games that expect you to rethink your strategy instead of simply building bigger walls, Architect of War is available now in Early Access on Steam. Why not follow the developer on Tik Tok too to keep up with future updates.
