August has officially arrived, and it’s shaping up to be a busy month ahead. There’s some huge releases waiting in the wings, plenty of promising indie projects preparing to make their debut, and more than a few games we’ve had our eye on for months.
I’ll be publishing our full August release roundup later today, but before we start getting excited about everything that’s on the way, let’s take a look at everything that happened over the past seven days.
It was another packed week for the genre, with fresh launches, major updates, and plenty of stories that kept the rogue community busy. We also continued shining a spotlight on games that deserve a little more attention through our regular features, from this week’s Hidden Gem to our latest Mobile Game of the Week.
So, if you missed it, here’s everything worth catching up on before August really gets underway.
Behind the Scenes at AllRogues

Things are getting serious over at AllRogues headquarters. So serious, in fact, that we’ve started having weekly meetings. Yes, actual meetings. The kind where we discuss plans, share updates, and pretend we’re much more organized than we really are. Jokes aside, those regular catch-ups have been a great way to keep everything moving as we continue building out the site and planning what comes next.
Behind the scenes, we’ve been working on some exciting new features that we can’t wait to introduce very soon, with plenty more ideas already being planned for the months ahead. Steven, the founder and brains behind the site, has also been busy setting up our AllRogues YouTube channel, so expect to see videos coming your way very soon. And while he may or may not be making an appearance on camera (spoiler alert…he absolutely will be), you’ll definitely want to keep an eye out for that.
Of course, no week at AllRogues would be complete without spending plenty of time playing new games for upcoming reviews. It’s a tough job, but someone has to do it! We’ve been diving into some interesting releases and hidden gems, and we’re looking forward to sharing our thoughts on them with you soon.
So, now we’re caught up on behind the scenes gossip, let’s check out what happened in the rogue world this week…
Launch of the Week

There were a few notable launches competing for attention this week, and at the start of it, I was convinced we already knew our Launch of the Week. Company of Heroes 3: Final Stand looked like it had everything needed to steal the spotlight, bringing a new chapter to one of the most recognisable strategy franchises around. Unfortunately, the reality hasn’t quite matched the excitement, with the expansion arriving to a surprisingly mixed response from players.
While there is still plenty to enjoy for fans of the series, Final Stand seems to have fallen a little short of expectations. Some players were hoping for a more substantial addition, and the reception so far suggests that this latest battle hasn’t quite delivered the decisive victory many were expecting. That opened the door for Quasimorph, which launched its full 1.0 version on July 31st and quickly claimed this week’s top spot.
After building a dedicated following during Early Access, Quasimorph arrives as a dark turn-based cyberpunk RPG where every mission is a dangerous gamble. Players take control of a space-based PMC, sending mercenaries on corporate contracts where success means valuable resources to strengthen their operation, while failure means losing everything they brought with them. With tactical combat, hundreds of weapons and upgrades, cybernetic enhancements, and plenty of experimentation available, Quasimorph delivers a brutal sci-fi adventure where careful planning matters just as much as pulling the trigger.
News of the Week

Compared to some of the busier weeks we’ve had recently, the rogue news cycle has been a little quieter over the past seven days. That doesn’t mean there hasn’t been anything worth talking about, though, with a few interesting announcements catching our attention, including Echoes of Mystralia and RANOKA. Both games have given players something new to look forward to, and we’ll be keeping a close eye on how they continue to develop.
The biggest piece of news this week came from Dungeons & Degenerate Gamblers, which went all in with its biggest update yet. The popular blackjack-inspired roguelike received a major content drop packed with new cards, challenges, and additions designed to give players even more reasons to return to the table. After already winning over players with its clever take on deckbuilding, this latest update gives the game another strong hand to play.
Featured Games of the Week

Each week, we like to shine a spotlight on games that deserve a little more attention, whether they’re hidden gems waiting to be discovered or mobile releases that prove great rogue experiences can fit in the palm of your hand. This week, both of our featured games share something in common: they’re deckbuilders that show just how much variety there is within the genre.
Our Hidden Gem of the Week is Aces & Adventures, a fantasy deckbuilder that flew under the radar despite offering a clever combination of card-based combat, RPG progression, and strategic decision-making. With its colourful cast of characters and inventive approach to battles, it’s a great reminder that some of the most interesting rogue games aren’t always the ones making the most noise.
Our Mobile Game of the Week goes to Card Guardians, a deckbuilder that proves you don’t need a PC to enjoy a rewarding rogue experience. Combining tactical card battles with accessible mobile-friendly runs, it delivers an easy-to-pick-up adventure that still offers plenty of choices, upgrades, and challenges for players looking for their next portable obsession.
Upcoming Game to Watch

Our game to watch this week is Guildrun, a promising upcoming roguelite that has already started making waves thanks to its impressive demo. The response has been particularly strong, with the game’s Discord community growing to over 1,000 players as more people jump in to see what it has to offer. For an unreleased game, that level of early interest is always a good sign, and Guildrun is quickly becoming one to keep on your radar.
While the full release isn’t expected until later this year, there’s already plenty to enjoy in the current demo. Players can dive into its roguelite gameplay, experiment with different builds, and get a taste of the systems that will continue to expand before launch. With such a strong early following and plenty more content still to come, Guildrun is shaping up to be one of the more exciting upcoming releases to watch.

Skyward Bastion
Skyward Bastion combines defensive strategy with rogue-inspired mechanics, challenging players to protect their stronghold while adapting to each new threat. It’s a promising choice for fans who enjoy planning carefully and creating powerful combinations.
Slot & Dungeons takes dungeon crawling and adds a slot machine-inspired twist to the formula. By combining chance, strategy, and progression, it offers a unique approach for players who enjoy experimenting with unusual genre combinations.
Kinny and the Cosmic Cauldron
Kinny and the Cosmic Cauldron brings players on a colourful cosmic adventure filled with exploration and discovery. It’s a charming-looking release that adds a little more variety to this week’s collection of games worth keeping an eye on.
