Hell Clock doesn’t give you much time to think. Every run begins with the same question, do you push a little deeper for better rewards, or head for the exit before the clock runs out? It’s a simple decision, but one that sits at the heart of every expedition, turning each dungeon into a constant battle between greed and survival.

Inspired by Brazil’s War of Canudos, the game follows Pajeú as he descends into a dark fantasy vision of history in search of his fallen mentor, The Counselor. Along the way you’ll cut through relentless hordes of enemies, collect increasingly powerful loot, and discover relics and blessings capable of transforming an ordinary build into something spectacular.

Whether you’re charging into battle with devastating melee attacks or unleashing supernatural abilities from a distance, every run offers another opportunity to experiment while racing against the ever-present countdown. For players who prefer to explore at their own pace, Relaxed Mode removes the timer entirely, allowing the story and world to take centre stage.

What Makes It Different?

  • A dark fantasy adventure inspired by the real events of Brazil’s War of Canudos
  • Time-limited expeditions where deciding when to leave is part of the challenge
  • Powerful relics, blessings, weapons, and abilities that support a wide range of builds
  • Relaxed Mode removes the timer for players who want to focus on exploration and story
  • Constellation progression, relic crafting, and corruption systems expand long-term progression
  • Ascension and Hell Mode introduce increasingly difficult endgame challenges

How It Plays

Every descent into Hell starts with a fresh build, but it doesn’t stay that way for long. Defeating enemies and opening chests rewards you with new equipment, relics, and blessings that steadily shape your character as the run unfolds. The deeper you venture, the stronger those combinations become, but staying too long risks losing everything if the timer catches up with you.

That constant push-and-pull gives Hell Clock a very different feel to most action roguelites. Every successful escape unlocks new progression through constellations, crafting, and tougher endgame modes, encouraging you to return with a stronger build and see just how much further you can make it on the next descent.

Good If You Like…

If you enjoy Hades, Death Must Die, Ravenswatch, Curse of the Dead Gods, or action roguelites built around powerful loot and increasingly ambitious builds, Hell Clock deserves a place in your library.
