Age of Legacy Demo Brings Brutal Permadeath Combat to Steam

Age of Legacy, an unforgiving roguelike RPG built around solo turn-based duels, launched on Steam today (July 10, 2026). Developed and published by Chaotic Order Games, the demo grants unlimited access to the Mage class within the Enchanted Forest, one of several locations planned for the full release.

The game strips away party mechanics and allies entirely. Each battle pits a single character against an enemy in high-stakes turn-based combat where every decision carries weight. Players hunt rare equipment from defeated foes and specialized vendors, then slot powerful runestones to gain passive perks. Build optimization and tactical foresight determine survival, because permadeath is absolute. A fallen character takes all gear, runestones, and resources into the void, and no revival system exists.

The demo spotlights the Mage class and its ability synergies, though the full game will include the Warrior and Archer as well. Each class fundamentally alters playstyle, usable abilities, runestones, and the resource type players manage. Experimentation with runestone combinations is presented as the key to discovering unbeatable strategies.

The game takes place in a kingdom consumed by chaos. Half a century prior, General Maelgerok, trusted commander of the royal army, murdered the King and seized the realm. Under his rule, the land has transformed into a perilous place where danger lurks in every corner.
