Lootbound Heads for Full Release After Winning Over Steam Demo Players

A newly launched demo of Lootbound, a tactical roguelite built around companion drafting and item synergies, has already achieved a Very Positive rating after over a year of development. The team behind the game announced the release of their launch trailer, signaling an imminent full release.

In Lootbound, you begin each run as a solo hero, then assemble a squad of companions as you progress through a branching map. What sets the game apart is the emphasis on reactive item abilities rather than flat stat increases. Equip one companion’s shield and it can trigger another’s defense mechanics. Land a critical strike and elemental damage chains across your entire party.

The developers, who describe themselves as players with thousands of hours in the genre, built the game around the idea that every run should feel completely different based on the build you craft, but the mechanical depth runs deeper. Companions follow the same equipment rules as your hero. Items exist independently, though they gain power when their auras influence adjacent pieces. Different damage types interact with armor and enemy health in distinct ways, allowing you to build around armor penetration, exhaustion, armor destruction, or direct damage.

Your choices are permanent, your mistakes final, and your party composition a direct result of the risks you take along the way.

The demo is currently live on Steam. A full release has also been announced for July 31st 2026.
