Developer ASBAK has announced its debut game, Asbak, a 2D action roguelike set in a demon-ridden urban Southeast Asia where you take on the role of a corporate demon hunter. The studio positions the game as a high-speed experience that weaponizes your talent to slay demons and earn a living in a dangerous world where demon hunting is, apparently, a viable profession.
The game leans into team composition as a core mechanic. You’ll build a squad of two demon hunters from a roster of playable characters, each bringing distinct skills and playstyles to encounters, the logic being that multiple hunters can synergize their abilities to dispatch threats more efficiently. According to the store listing, there are 48 skills to master across the available hunters, alongside more than 50 artifacts that can be obtained, mixed, and matched to optimize your approach against demons.
Procedural level generation ensures that no two runs feel identical. Each descent into the city generates a fresh layout, keeping the roguelike structure intact and encouraging repeated attempts to test new hunter combinations and gear synergies.
The title is still under active development, which means balance adjustments and content additions remain on the roadmap. If you’re drawn to action roguelikes with team-building mechanics and a stylish Southeast Asian setting, you may want to keep an eye on this one.
