Vonkelveld Enters Early Access Today, Putting Players in the Hands of a God

Creating a world is only the beginning in Vonkelveld, which enters Early Access today on Steam. Instead of telling people exactly what to do, the new god simulation game asks players to shape the land itself, then sit back and watch civilizations rise, adapt, and struggle to survive the world you’ve created.

Developed by Software MoosS, Vonkelveld gives players control over nature rather than its inhabitants. Mountains can be raised, rivers redirected, rain summoned, and fertile land blessed, but once those choices have been made, the people living in your world are left to make their own decisions. Villages gradually grow into towns and cities, relationships form, families expand, and history unfolds naturally as each generation responds to the environment around them.

One of the game’s most intriguing features is the ability to zoom from a bird’s-eye view of the world straight into the life of a single individual. Rather than simply watching populations grow, players can follow personal stories, friendships, and family lives as they unfold, adding a more human perspective to the larger simulation.

Vonkelveld also includes a Chronicle system that allows players to trace events back through time, revealing exactly why something happened instead of simply recording that it did. Combined with its procedurally generated worlds, where the same seed always produces the same landscape, the game places a strong emphasis on cause and effect rather than randomness alone.
