Ratatan Isn’t Ready To Drop The Beat Just Yet

If you’ve been counting down to Ratatan‘s July launch, you’ll need to reset your calendar. Game Source Entertainment and Ratata Arts announced the rhythm roguelike action game will now release on October 15, 2026, pushing back its arrival by three months.

The delay centers on multiplayer stability and bug fixes. The development team has been gathering feedback from the Steam Early Access version and is using that window to refine the online experience. Final adjustments across different platforms are also in progress to ensure a stable launch build. The studio states the extra time is necessary to deliver the quality players expect.

Ratatan combines rhythm gameplay with side-scrolling action in an online co-op format supporting up to four players. Led by designer Hiroyuki Kotani, who created Sony’s original PSP rhythm game Patapon, the game tasks you with timing button sequences to command creatures called Ratans and Cobuns through chaotic battles. The game’s narrative follows these animal-like characters on a journey to meet a goddess in a place called The Everafter.

Players who pre-ordered will receive compensation in the form of Deluxe bonus DLC codes, including the Cobun Set, Equipment & Accessories Set, and Supply Set. Those who purchase the Digital Deluxe Edition will have these items included at no extra cost.

The delay is a calculated move rather than a crisis. With a current rating of 90 percent positive across 900 Steam reviews, Ratatan is already building momentum in Early Access.
