Deadzoned Returns With A Fresh Wave Of Zombie Survival Chaos

Deadzoned is back. Developer caiysware has released another alpha demo for the sci-fi turn-based roguelike during Steam Next Fest, giving players another chance to descend into the procedurally-generated nightmare of the Deadzones before the full release.

Deadzoned gameplay

The game pitches itself as a strategic mix of turn-based action and resource management set in a dystopian 29XX where a nanite virus has devastated human colonies. You’ll battle through subterranean zones filled with mutants, bandits, cultists, and the environment itself, armed with whatever rusted weapons and scrap gear you can scavenge. Success hinges on making tough choices about whether to fully explore enemy-packed rooms or cut your losses and push deeper.

Deadzoned offers multiple game modes ranging from quick 15-minute runs to longer campaigns, each with distinct difficulty settings, enemy pools, and boss encounters. Character variety matters too. You can pick from Bounty Hunters, Psychics, Technomaniacs, and the Deprived Wretch, with each class leveling differently and offering unique talent trees to customize your build. Every playthrough shuffles the layout, enemy types, and loot, so repetition isn’t the enemy here.

The alpha demo represents caiysware’s latest window into a project that clearly wants to reward both tactical thinking and risk assessment. For roguelike fans who prize strategic depth over twitch reflexes, the Next Fest demo is worth a download to see if Deadzoned delivers on that premise.
