The Little Land Launches Today, Putting You in Charge of Tiny Worshippers With Some Very Big Problems

Being a god should come with a few perks. An entire civilization worshipping you, the occasional offering, and the ability to unleash divine powers whenever somebody gets on your nerves. Sounds like a decent arrangement, especially when your followers are adorable little creatures who spend their days building houses, gathering resources, and generally minding their own business. There’s just one problem. Your tiny civilization has attracted the attention of some nasty creatures, including demons, slimes, and a gigantic cat that could flatten half the village with one paw.

Those poor little worshippers have picked a terrible place to settle down.

The Little Land enters Steam Early Access today, a roguelite god simulator from developer RasterCat and publisher Karus. You’ll be watching over a growing settlement of tiny creatures known as the Littles, using divine powers to protect them from whatever comes crawling, stomping, or slithering toward their homes. The catch? Your followers have minds of their own, so don’t expect them to come running every time you issue a command.

These Little Worshippers Have a Mind of Their Own

In most colony builders you’re typically in charge of practically everything. You decide where buildings go, which resources need collecting, and who gets stuck chopping down trees for the next six hours. The Little Land is a little different.

Your Littles handle their own business, gathering materials, constructing buildings, and expanding their settlement without needing you to supervise every little decision. They’ll go about their daily routines while you watch their civilization gradually take shape.

It’s a fun twist on the usual colony-building formula, especially for players who enjoy watching little worlds develop without having to manage every worker individually. The problem is that these independent little creatures aren’t exactly prepared for everything waiting outside their village. They may be perfectly capable of putting up a house, but dealing with an enormous monster stomping toward it is a different story.

That’s where their favorite deity comes in…You.

The Cat Is Not Your Friend

You might have divine powers at your disposal, but The Little Land isn’t about sitting back and watching your followers do all the hard work. Your settlement faces attacks from slimes, demons, and other hostile creatures, forcing you to intervene before your little civilization becomes monster food.

There’s also a giant cat. Imagine being the size of a mouse and seeing an enormous feline wandering toward your village. That cute little ball of fluff suddenly looks a lot less adorable when its paws are bigger than your house.

Dealing with these threats means making careful use of your divine energy. Every intervention costs something, so you can’t simply unleash your powers whenever a monster appears. You’ll have to decide which enemies need immediate attention, when to conserve your energy, and how to protect your followers without leaving yourself completely drained.

A poorly timed intervention could leave your village exposed when the next wave of trouble arrives.

Prayers, Purrs, and Powerful Little Charms

The Littles might not be much use against a giant cat, but their devotion does have its advantages. As your followers pray, they generate faith that can be used to unlock new divine abilities through a customizable skill tree. The more your settlement develops, the more opportunities you’ll have to improve your powers and experiment with different approaches to keeping everyone alive.

There are also ancient artifacts scattered throughout the world, which can be collected and crafted into powerful charms. These charms add further customization, allowing you to combine different effects and develop builds suited to your preferred strategy. You could focus on keeping your followers protected or experiment with abilities designed to deal with incoming threats more effectively.

With roguelite mechanics thrown into the mix, experimenting with different combinations becomes part of the appeal. What works beautifully during one attempt might not be the best approach when a different collection of monsters comes knocking. After all, there’s only so much a village full of tiny worshippers can do when their god runs out of energy.

A Little More to Come

The Little Land is beginning its Early Access journey with plans for plenty of additional content. RasterCat expects development to continue for approximately one to two years, with more varieties of Littles, additional enemies, challenging maps, and new items planned for future updates.

Player feedback will also help shape how the game develops, giving the community an opportunity to influence what comes next. There’s a free demo available on Steam, too, for anyone who wants to try their hand at divine intervention before taking responsibility for an entire civilization.

Between the autonomous villagers, customizable powers, and roguelite progression, The Little Land offers a different take on the usual colony survival experience. Instead of spending your time ordering everyone around, you’re watching a tiny civilization grow while desperately trying to stop the local wildlife from destroying it.
