Something Wicked This Way Comes: 10 Upcoming Horror Rogue Games Worth Watching

Being eaten alive, dragged into the darkness, or torn apart by some terrifying creature isn’t how most people would choose to spend their evening. For horror fans, though, that sounds like a pretty good time, and with Halloween approaching, there’s a fresh collection of nightmares preparing to make their way onto our screens.

From abandoned underground tunnels crawling with mutated creatures to haunted pool tables, sinister laboratories, and game shows where losing could cost you your life, upcoming horror rogue games are taking players to some wonderfully unpleasant places. Some will have you fighting off enormous hordes of monsters, while others leave you completely defenseless, relying on stealth, quick thinking, and whatever supplies you can find to stay alive.

With procedurally generated environments, unpredictable encounters, and plenty of unusual gameplay ideas, there’s a lot for horror fans to look forward to over the coming months.

We’ve picked out 10 upcoming horror rogue games worth keeping an eye on, including a few arriving just in time for Halloween.

1. Dawn of Irkalla |Releasing October 16, 2026

Ancient dungeons filled with valuable artifacts, terrifying creatures, and secrets buried beneath the earth await in Dawn of Irkalla. Sent underground by a mysterious government agency, your mission is to recover lost treasures before time runs out. Unfortunately, the monsters guarding these forgotten places cannot be killed, leaving you with no weapons, no way to fight back, and very little room for mistakes.

Published by GreenMind Media Inc., this cooperative horror rogue game combines stealth, dungeon crawling, and deckbuilding, sending up to four players into handcrafted environments where learning enemy behaviour is essential to survival. Scavenging useful items, constructing decks, unlocking skills through a character progression system, and finding ways to slip past the creatures hunting you, every expedition becomes a desperate race to recover something valuable and escape before the dungeon claims you.

2. Metro Resonance | Releasing 29 October, 2026

Thirty minutes is all you have to cross a ruined underground railway and reach Haven Station before its doors close permanently. Somewhere beyond the pitch-black tunnels lies the medicine needed to save your dying companion, but with a broken handcar, dwindling supplies, and mutated creatures lurking in the darkness, getting there won’t be easy.

Metro Resonance is a first-person post-apocalyptic survival horror game from SLZ_Studio, built around a frantic journey through abandoned trains and radiation-filled tunnels. Scavenging spare parts to repair your handcar, searching for ammunition, manually recharging your flashlight, and keeping your gas mask functioning, you’ll have to make every minute count. Hostile survivors and dangerous creatures complicate the journey, while the constant threat of running out of time makes even a short detour for supplies a potentially costly decision.

3. Just One Bite | Releasing October 27, 2026

Food has become humanity’s greatest enemy in Just One Bite, a bizarre world where monsters have started appearing inside everyday meals. With no way of knowing whether that innocent-looking snack is actually something waiting to devour you, gathering supplies has become a rather dangerous occupation. Fortunately, humanity has come up with a solution: sending wooden puppets out to do the dirty work instead.

Playable alone or with up to three friends, this cooperative horror rogue game from Opus Nine equips players with a floating fork that doubles as a weapon and a modified truck for travelling between dangerous locations. Collecting food, battling whatever horrors emerge from it, and returning to safety with your supplies, you’ll gradually upgrade your puppet’s body and equipment using food as currency. The truck also serves as a mobile base for preparing future expeditions, although it’s apparently not built to withstand much punishment.

4. Death Dealer | Releasing November 4, 2026

A card game with friends takes a murderous turn in Death Dealer, where losing at the table means becoming the target of a deadly manhunt. Trapped underground and forced to participate in a deranged host’s games, up to six players compete for chips, spin slot machines for bonuses, and try desperately to avoid becoming the unfortunate loser. Once the cards are down, the unlucky player gets a head start while everyone else goes shopping for weapons.

Created by Psychotronic, Death Dealer combines multiplayer horror, card games, and unpredictable player-versus-player action, turning every round into a frantic game of hide-and-seek with considerably higher stakes. Slot machine modifiers can alter how matches unfold, while proximity voice chat, physics-based interactions, and plenty of opportunities for betrayal should make surviving your friends considerably harder than surviving the card game itself.

5. Deadhold | Releasing November 12, 2026

Every survivor matters when the dead are roaming the streets, and keeping your community alive means making some difficult decisions. In Deadhold, the daylight hours are spent scavenging abandoned locations, gathering supplies, rescuing survivors, and preparing your safehouse for the inevitable arrival of the undead. By nightfall, you’ll need barricades, traps, and enough healthy people to hold back whatever comes shambling through the darkness.

This zombie survival strategy game from Midnight Snack Games combines resource management, tactical defence, and rogue progression, with randomly dealt survivors, locations, and modifiers changing each attempt. Assigning jobs based on individual skills, managing exhaustion and infection, building gardens and watchtowers, and positioning survivors against increasingly dangerous hordes, you’ll have to balance immediate survival against the needs of your growing community. Permanent upgrades offer new strategies for future runs, while different zombie types keep the pressure on.

6. Pool of Madness | Releasing November 13, 2026

A haunted pool table, ancient cosmic horrors, and a collection of exploding fish aren’t usually things you’d expect to find in the same game, but Pool of Madness has apparently decided that ordinary billiards aren’t nearly dangerous enough. Strange rituals have turned the tables into gateways for nightmarish creatures, leaving you to battle monsters from beyond the void with a cue and some increasingly destructive trick shots.

Blending Lovecraftian horror with billiards, pinball-style ricochets, and shooting mechanics, this unusual rogue game turns every shot into an opportunity for chaos. Upgrading your cue with different components, collecting powerful abilities, and experimenting with combinations of attacks, you’ll face increasingly bizarre encounters while uncovering the mystery surrounding a missing ship’s crew. Between the grotesque enemies, supernatural rituals, and unpredictable physics, there’s considerably more happening here than simply trying to sink the eight ball.

7. Occult Trap | Releasing Q4 2026

The abandoned laboratories of Selen Industries are hiding some truly unpleasant experiments, and unfortunately for Ember, those experiments are about to begin again. Reawakened by a mysterious artificial intelligence known as HesT-A, the former test subject finds herself trapped inside a facility filled with grotesque creatures, deadly machinery, and chambers designed to inflict all manner of suffering. With no weapons to defend herself, survival depends on understanding the monsters and using the laboratory’s own traps against them.

Created by eTIRUe, Occult Trap combines psychological survival horror, environmental puzzles, and rogue progression, rewarding repeated attempts with experience that can improve Ember’s abilities. Searching for useful items, studying enemy behaviour, disabling traps, and exploiting the environment to escape pursuit, you’ll gradually uncover ways through the facility. Unlockable Biodoll bodies, interchangeable parts, and outfits also allow Ember’s appearance to be customised between experiments.

8. 99 Nights in the Apocalypse | Releasing Q4 2026

Ninety-nine nights stand between you and survival in a post-apocalyptic wilderness where the local wildlife is probably the least of your worries. Escaped asylum patients, deranged doctors, murderous nurses, and other horrors emerge after dark, turning your makeshift camp into a nightly battleground. During the day, you’ll venture into the surrounding park to hunt animals, chop trees, gather supplies, and rescue survivors before returning to prepare for another attack.

Developed by Crater Studios, 99 Nights in the Apocalypse is a cooperative survival rogue game combining exploration, crafting, base building, and increasingly dangerous nightly encounters. Reinforcing barricades, upgrading equipment, keeping the campfire burning, and working together to defend your shelter, you’ll need to make the most of every daylight hour. Procedurally generated runs and permadeath mean each attempt presents a different struggle, while the game’s colourful, darkly comedic presentation gives the apocalypse a rather unusual personality.

9. Night Portable | Releasing 2026

A suspiciously well-paid night shift at a secondhand video game shop in the 2000s sounds like a decent opportunity, until you discover that something is lurking inside the locked building. From midnight until six in the morning, you’re expected to clean, restock shelves, and complete your duties while avoiding an unseen presence that reacts to light and noise. There are also several retro handheld games lying around, although playing them while something stalks the aisles might not be the wisest decision.

Night Portable, from Pumpkin Miso Studio, mixes first-person survival horror with three playable handheld games and a separate side-scrolling adventure exploring the shop’s troubled past. Earning rewards through retro minigames, deciding when to cash out rather than risk losing everything, managing limited resources, and investigating the curse surrounding the building, you’ll gradually piece together the mystery connecting its past and present.

10. Please, Spin | Releasing Q4 2026

Welcome to the world’s worst game show, where the prizes are questionable, the host is completely unhinged, and failing to reach the required score could cost you your life. Trapped inside a nightmarish television studio, you’re forced to spin a wheel for points while a sadistic presenter throws increasingly unfair challenges your way. Winning earns you currency and new opportunities to improve your chances, but the house certainly isn’t interested in giving you an easy escape.

Please, Spin is a horror-themed, score-based rogue deckbuilder from Last Minute Studios, built around customising wheels and creating powerful combinations of tiles and relics. With six starting wheels, more than 150 collectible tiles, over 120 relics, and a collection of twisted side events and bosses, there’s plenty of room to experiment with different strategies. Every spin brings another chance to build your score, bend the rules, or lose everything to the studio’s rigged games.

Plenty More Nightmares on the Way

Whether you prefer the relentless pressure of surviving a zombie apocalypse, the creeping dread of being hunted through dark corridors, or the rather unique experience of playing pool against Lovecraftian monsters, there’s plenty of variety among these upcoming releases.

It’s also interesting to see how developers are experimenting with the genre. Deckbuilding, base management, retro handheld games, and even deadly game shows are finding their way into horror rogue games, offering plenty of new ways to test your survival skills.
