Swarm Idle Starts Eating Earth Today, and the Invasion Won’t Stop While You’re Away

You can close Swarm Idle, go make dinner, sleep for eight hours, come back tomorrow, and find your alien army has been busy ruining Earth without you. Efficient.

Omicra Lyrae’s prestige idle roguelite enters Early Access today, putting you in charge of an alien queen with 100 cities and 1,000 districts standing between her swarm and complete planetary takeover. Your creatures keep producing resources while the game is closed too, with no offline time limit and no reduced efficiency.

So even when you stop playing, the invasion keeps clocking in.

Earth Is Going District by District

Conquering the planet starts small. Your swarm moves through cities one district at a time, overwhelming whatever stands in the way while corruption spreads behind it. On the world map, conquered areas gradually turn red as the invasion grows from a few ruined streets into something much harder for humanity to ignore.

Standing in your way are Wardens, stronger defenders that act as milestones throughout the campaign. Beating them gives you more than another chunk of Earth. Mutated Wardens provide Genome, which can either strengthen the entire swarm directly or be invested into nine Princesses that permanently change how progression works. Which sounds like a fairly major promotion for something that started with eating one district.

Eight Lineages, Plenty of Ways to Grow

Your swarm is split across eight creature lineages. Each can be leveled up, given talents, and pushed toward new power milestones while you decide where the next batch of resources will do the most damage. Active abilities give you something to manage while you’re actually playing, so this isn’t purely a case of watching numbers climb and checking back tomorrow.

Eventually, a lineage can Evolve. Doing that wipes out the levels and upgrades you’ve built on it, sending the creature back to level one in a much stronger form. Then the new version starts tearing through areas that used to take ages.

When Progress Stops, Start Again

Evolution handles individual lineages. Mutation goes much further. Once the swarm hits a wall, you can reset the wider run and begin again with permanent power carried forward. Areas that once took hours can fall much faster, letting you reach your previous limit before pushing beyond it.

Bioflux gives you another decision to make between cycles. This rarer resource lets you place Infusions on specific lineages to increase their damage.

Pile everything onto your strongest creatures? Spread it around? Change your mind after the next Mutation?

You can. Infusions are returned after each reset, so you’re free to move them somewhere else rather than being stuck with an old decision.

Early Access Is Starting With One Planet

The current Early Access build includes the full first-planet campaign alongside the core systems for lineages, Princesses, Evolutions, Mutations, Infusions, active abilities, and offline progression. Omicra Lyrae expects development to continue for around nine to 12 months.

The developer is deliberately leaving some of the future design open for player feedback. More planets, specializations, additional build paths, and new mechanics are all being explored, while progression pacing, the balance between idle and active play, and the endgame may change along the way.

It’s also a premium release with no microtransactions or ads. For now, though, there’s only one planet to worry about, unfortunately for Earth, it has 100 cities and the swarm has all the time in the world.
